Korean BBQ Tacos at The Bruery?!?!

We usually wait until later in the week to get info on the Tasting Room, but I just couldn't wait for Stef to reveal this week's super awesomeness. After hoping and praying for months and months, the super famous Kogi BBQ truck will be parking outside of The Bruery this Friday from 6pm to 9pm!

For those who aren't familiar with Kogi, they are single handedly responsible for the recent food truck craze in Los Angeles. Their incredible Chef Roy Choi has combined the sweet and spicy flavors of Korean BBQ with the savory handheld meals that Mexico is so famous for. Short rib tacos, Korean breakfast burritos, kimchi quesadillas...its all incredible and will all be available right outside the Tasting Room doors!

If you have never tried Kogi, this is a great chance. If you have never been to our Tasting Room, this is an incredible chance. And if you ever wondered how many tacos each member of our staff can eat, this is a stupendous chance to watch us all gorge on deliciousness and then wash it all down with a beer. I'm thinking Rugbrød might help relieve my tongue of the spice...but we'll have to figure out that night what pairs best with a black jack quesadilla.

For those who want some more info on Kogi, here is a fun video.
And don't forget to follow kogi on twitter at @kogibbq and follow The Bruery at @thebruery.

I hate being a negative Nancy, but a couple of points.

One, I would definitely not say that they are "single handedly responsbile for the recent food truck craze in Los Angeles." Credit for that probably goes to Gloria Molina for trying to ban taco trucks.

Also, Kogi was supposed to once come to a location near my home in Glassell Park. About 90 minutes after they were SUPPOSED to show up, they tweeted that they were going somewhere else.

No love here for Kogi.

Lots of love still for the Bruery, however! Always down with some incredibly wonderful beer!

Dear Negative Nancy,

Please come for the beers and if you get hungry, feel free to try a Kogi taco, but if not, there is a lovely hamburger joint down the street, but seriously, the beers are the best part anyhow.

Love,
The Bruery

After all the initial hype I waited in a two-hour line for Kogi and I can say they've got some gastronomic magic happening. Everything we had was great (even the tofu). Not sure I'd wait two hours again but if I had a Bruery beer in hand while waiting it'd be a pretty sure thing.

I waited over 4 hours for my one and only Kogi experience when it was in downtown Orange. Now that they have an Orange-only truck, I imagine the lines will start to subside a bit.

However, the question I have is - will we be able to drink while in line for Kogi?

And is Kogi promoting this stop via Twitter or is it an exclusive for us Bruery lovers?

OK OK OK... Let me get this straight, my favorite truck that always make it to Torrance every Friday, will be outside my second favorite brewery (Stone coming in 1st)? What total awesomeness is this??

::squeeeee::

Now if I didn't have plans to go out for ramen and karaoke with friends I would so be there. And if it wasn't for the fact that I live all the way in Torrance.

Let's see if I can talk them in to going here first and then coming back to Torrance for karaoke.

I hope this happens again. Thank you Spence for emailing me about what's going this week and next!
