Magical Unicorns at the Tasting Room...

January has been a busy month at The Bruery – it seems like 2010 is flying by already! We’ll try to do our part in ending January on a high note.  What better way than with Kogi & new beer?

This weekend our good friends at Kogi BBQ are bringing their delicious Korean-Mexican fusion to the Tasting Room again.  They’ll be here Friday night from 6:30 – 9 pm for your snacking pleasure!

We also still have bottles of Oude Tart available.  This barrel aged sour Flemish red ale is selling quickly though so come down and pick up your bottles soon!  Keep in mind there is a 3 bottle limit per person.

We are also planning to run a pilot batch past you this weekend.  Amulet: Tyler's Magical Unicorn, is a dark strong sour ale that was brewed with a medley of plums, pears, and raisins that were reduced and carmelized with rum.  It was fermented with several strains of brettanomyces, plus pediococcus and lactobacillus to achieve a pleasant sourness.  It was then aged on oak with pinot noir grapes.  Sound good?  It is!  Keep in mind this is a small pilot batch, so it’s very limited.  Come let us know what you think!

This weekend we’ll be pouring:

Orchard White (available for growlers)

Saison Rue

Rugbrød (available for growlers)

Mischief

Humulus XPA (available for growlers)

Amulet: Tyler's Magical Unicorn

We look forward to seeing you this weekend!

Cheers,

Stef & the other folks at The Bruery

Sunshine!! Well maybe not, but at least we'll have beer...

Well, it’s been one of the wettest weeks I’ve ever seen here in Southern California! Keep your heads up though, because according to the forecast, we should be in the clear again by Friday (this is subject to change of course, blame the weatherman if I’m wrong).  That means there should be nothing standing between you and the Tasting Room.

There is still a limited amount of Oude Tart on tap, so come out while the getting’s good – it may not last long.  We’ve been selling bottles of this red wine barrel-aged Flemish Red to Reserve Society members for the past few weeks, and we are opening up sales to the public as of Friday.  This is a VERY limited release beer and bottles will only be available at the Tasting Room.

We also have bottles of Mischief, looking very ominous and delicious all at the same time.  If you haven’t had this deviously hoppy Belgian-style golden ale, we have it on tap so you can try it for yourself – if you think you’re up to it.  This one is also available for growler fills.

Saturday night, our friend and culinary creationist Piaggio will be on hand with his tasty Argentine treats from his Piaggio on Wheels food truck.  He’s even putting together some pairings for our tasting flight so come hungry.

This weekend we’re pouring –

Orchard White (available for growler fills)

Rugbrød (available for growler fills)

2 Turtle Doves

Mischief (available for growler fills)

Oude Tart – VERY limited!

Saison Rue

Hottenroth Berliner Weisse

We hope to see you there!

Rugbrød for Relief

This weekend, we'll be donating 100% of on-premise draft sales of Rugbrød to the Red Cross Haitian Relief fund.

We'll also be happy to collect donations for this very worthy cause during our Tasting Room hours.

Thanks for helping us support this relief effort!

Mischief & Oude Tart this weekend - Tasting Room closed on Saturday

We hope everyone who came to the Tasting Room last weekend enjoyed the food truck selection and Mischief on cask.  Bottles of Mischief are still available and as of this Friday, we’ll have it on draft as well so come try our newest addition!

A few weeks ago we released a beer called Oude Tart.  This is our Flemish Red that has been aging in red wine barrels for 18 months.  At the time, it was just a sneak peak at the beer, and it didn’t last more than a day at the Tasting Room.  If you didn’t get a chance to try it then, have no fear – this weekend it’s back!  We will be serving Oude Tart starting this Sunday, January 17th.

Please take note that the Tasting Room will be closed to the public this Saturday, January 16th, for our Reserve Society Initiation Celebration.  We will be open for normal business hours on Friday and Sunday.

This weekend, we’ll be pouring –

Orchard White (available for growler fills)

Saison Rue

Rugbrød (available for growler fills)

Humulus XPA (available for growler fills)

Mischief (available for growler fills)

2 Turtle Doves

Oude Tart (beginning Sunday)

We look forward to seeing everyone this weekend and sharing new and special beers with you!

Cheers,

Beginning the year with new beer! And a few other fun items...

We hope everyone had a great New Year and we’re happy to be kicking off 2010 and our second full year of business here at The Bruery.  This past weekend we were closed for New Year’s Day so January 8th will be our first official Friday of the year, and of the month.  You know what that means – it’s First Firkin Friday.

This week’s Firkin will be Mischief dry-hopped with Simcoe and Amarillo.  You may remember Mischief from a few months back when we conducted a little experiment with three different pilot versions of the beer.  We served each at the Tasting Room and polled the crowd to determine a favorite.  The results helped us to finalize Mischief, which will be released as our newest limited year-round beer.

Mischief is a crisp, dry and hoppy Belgian-golden ale that packs a punch at 8.5% ABV and yet maintains a smooth drinking quality.  We will release bottles of Mischief this weekend exclusively at the Tasting Room, so come and get it!

On Saturday, you’ll be privy to a few delicious options for your beer and snacking pleasure, as we will be host to both Kogi BBQ AND the Frysmith truck.  If you haven’t tried one or either, this is a good time to do it.

Frysmith specializes in fancy French fries with toppings like pork belly, fire-roasted chilies, cheese, and more.  Kogi is a Korean BBQ Taco truck that fuses sweet and savory Korean sauces with Mexican-style staples like tacos and quesadillas.  Both are uniquely delicious and both will be available at the Tasting Room Saturday night.

This week we’ll be pouring:

Orchard White (available for growler fills)

Rugbrød (available for growler fills)

Humulus XPA (available for growler fills)

2 Turtle Doves

Mischief (on cask)

Saison Rue

Also, if you’re a Bruery Reserve Society member, your 15% discount has officially kicked in so come take advantage of it!

Please mark your calendars that Saturday, January 16th will be our Reserve Society Initiation Celebration.  The Tasting Room will not be open to the public on this day, however it will be business as usual Friday and Sunday.

Finally, we want to congratulate Craig Bayer, the winner of our Gift Basket Raffle!

We’re looking forward to sharing new beer and great food with you this weekend.

Cheers,

Stef & the other folks at The Bruery
